About Us

AMA Family Daycare opened it's doors to the community in September of 2010.  We are located in the Kensington area. The address is 350 East 9th St. between Cortelyou Road and Avenue C. The neighborhood is quiet and rich in diversity. We have lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and love it more each day. We have many years of children care experience, providing care for children ages 8 weeks to 12 years old.

AMA operates between the hours of 8:00am and 7:00pm (last pick up 6:50pm) Monday through Friday and some Saturdays depending upon request and availability. We offer affordable pricing and accept Daycare Subsidy (VOUCHERS). We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, ethnicity, pronouns, physical or mental disabilities or genetic information.

AMA Family Daycare does not follow the DOE calender but does close on these holidays:

  • Easter
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Indigenous Peoples Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
  • New Years Eve and New Year’s Day

AMA Family Daycare will also close for two weeks within the year ( taken consecutively) always with at least a month notice to all parents. Payment is required for holidays, but not for ONE of two week closures. Other reasons AMA Family Daycare would close would be due to unfortunate events behind our control; like severe weather, death in the family, birth of a baby ect..

We provide a Friendly, Clean and most importantly Safe environment for your children. We understand the importance of health and require all children to have a medical form completed before being placed in our care as well as taking all necessary Covid-19 protocols to keep daycare sanitized and safe.

We provide children with 3 well-balanced daily prepared meals (breakfast, lunch, and a light supper) and 3 to 5 snacks depending on pick up time. If parents want to send in their own food, they are welcomed to do so with proper packaging and instructions as to when food is to be given to child. We are a nut-free daycare.

We also work with parents during potty training. We are aware that it's a hard and long experience for both the child and the parent, we will work with you but not for you! If there is a method you use at home, please inform us and we will adopt it. If child shows no interest in potty training, then we may choose to discontinue and try at a later time. We do not offer treats and gifts to encourage potty training.

NYS Child Care Regulations recommend that all providers take children outdoors to parks or playgrounds Daily. AMA Family Daycare will take children outdoors daily if weather permits and children aren't ill. If and when we take children on trips, permission forms are required to be filled out and parents will be informed weeks in advance.

All children enrolled into the care of AMA Family Daycare are treated with love, friendship, and respect. Each child will be provided with the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities, creative learning and educational growth. At AMA, the program is varied in order to promote the educational, social, cultural, emotional and recreational development appropriate to the ages and development levels for all the children. We are child paced and child directed. We do not use a specific or themed curriculum because at AMA the children are the curriculum. We are there to guide them and help them find their own individuality through exploration and play. The program while still providing a daily schedule will also provide the children with experiences that are designed to influence a positive concept of self, recognizing others, recognizing family and help them learn and use language in a dual language setting . Each child will be provided with a sufficient quantity and variety of materials and play equipment appropriate to the age and developmental level of the child. Materials and play equipment may include books, paints, crayons, safety scissors, paper, blocks, puzzles, toys, games, balls, riding toys, puppets, dress up and outdoor playground. Our Objective is to provide a safe, clean and loving environment for your children, in which they feel loved, wanted and valued. These are the feelings we experienced with our grandparents and we are happy and proud to share them with you and your children.
